A Painting Is a Sea of Poetry

Where would words about art exist only in articles and reviews? The special corner "Image Link," which you can find only in Art, unfolds pictorials with sentences that emphasize emotion and imagination over logic and analysis. It has explored the diverse emotions that art possesses through short reflections on artworks, flash fiction that deduces hidden stories of characters, essays that recall memories tied to still lifes, and poems inspired by the moods evoked by landscapes. The third legacy compiles the "Image Link" pieces that wandered through landscapes, called a landscape compilation. From familiar cities to vast nature, it offers a 'poetic landscape' that reexamines ordinary life through the eyes of reporter Jo Jae-yeon. It’s a 'fantasia' that freely flows with the imagery led by paintings, drawings, and photographs.

The July 2021 issue ventured into the world's renowned travel destinations through the lens of young Spanish photographer Yosigo. It conveyed the sunlight, wind, and sensations of the sea in a near future where COVID-19 has ended. The August issue invited Japanese neo-pop artist Aya Takano. She portrayed girls with large eyes and delicate bodies as summer fairies, celebrating the vibrancy of the summer season that she had been preparing for all spring. The September 2022 issue centered around the photography exhibition "Anyway, Love" (D Museum 2022), capturing scenes of romance and recalling moments of love that make us feel both passionate and insignificant. The October issue featured the paintings of Lee Hye-seung, known for creating landscapes filled with déjà vu. The abundant blank spaces on the canvas served as 'the guest seats of memory,' sharing a sense of longing. The February 2023 issue introduced Franco Fontana, a pioneer of contemporary photography, who reminded us of moments when ordinary life shone like a painting. Finally, the April issue used the photography of straight photographer Less as a motif. It encapsulated moments throughout life, both beautiful and ugly, reborn with a strangely equal unfamiliarity, blending them into poetry.
